Hybrid Striped Bass

The hybrid striped bass is a cross between a female white bass and a male striped bass. The hybrid striper may be an alternative if you wish to diversify your fishery.
The hybrid striped bass has several advantages over regular largemouth bass; they do not reproduce so there is no chance of over-population, they can grow faster than largemouth bass because the hybrid striper will thrive on commercial feed as well as live forage fish.
They seem to tolerate a wide range of environmental conditions in temperatures from 25 degrees F to above 90 degrees F.
Stocking hybrid striped bass in ponds/lakes in Missouri has met with limited success and usually requires extra management efforts.
Periodic restocking is required to maintain a fishable population.
